Warminster Geo-cache Event to be held in May 2011
- On May 14th, 2011 Warminster Township Tricentennial Committee will be hosting a Geocache event at the main pavilion in the Warminster Community Park. This will be a family type event with a number of activities and prizes. Please read the story below, or visit www.geocaching.com for more information on this sport for young and old alike. This is a great sport to get you some exercise.
There are literally hundreds of existing geocaches in the Bucks/Montgomery County area. In Warminster itself, there are almost 70 caches. Many of these are in the park system or on township land. During the May 14th event we’ll focus on the new and existing caches within Werner, Munro, and the Community Park.
The cost to attend is $2.00 per person, and that will partly cover lunch, as well as some of the activities. Additional info to follow, or contact:

Enjoy the day geocaching at the location where the GPS system was developed. This site previously was designated a Naval Air Warfare Center, and was then known as NAWC Warminster. The facility assisted in the development of the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology at its US Navy Navigation Labs here on site.
The Navigation Labs are still in use by Penn State University. It is the round, low-roofed facility near the cache "Warminster Community Park (GC2ECTX)"
Tentative Event Schedule:
10am
Registration and Start ($2.00 per person registration fee). Sign the log, grab an event wristband, and sign up for various activities, and door prizes! As most of the events are in the park, you can get started on some of the geocache events. For those new to the sport, we will have some mini-informational sessions.
As many of you know, Warminster Township is a target-rich environment. Just for this event, we have added some additional targets within the Community Park. There are over 70 existing geocaches in and around Warminster Township, and approximately 25 within the park system itself.
12:30PM
Pitch-In Lunch: We will supply pizza (limited supply), plates, plastic ware and napkins. If you would like to join in, please bring your own entree and drinks, plus a dish to share. If your last name begins with A-R, bring a side dish. If your last name begins with S-Z, bring a dessert.
A get-to-know "Meet and Greet" session will be held. Once your activity sheet is filled, turn it in for an opportunity to win a prize!
