Clean Energy Information

Update 04/22/09
Beginning in 2008, 20% of the electricity used by Warminster Township at all municipal buildings and facilities is clean, renewable energy.  This was the first step necessary for Warminster Township to qualify as a Clean Energy Community.

To complete our commitment, Warminster will receive a FREE solar energy system worth $10,000 when 200 new customers in Warminster sign up their home or business for clean energy.  We need 50 more signups by May 31, 2009 to meet this goal, and yours could be the one that gets us the solar panel!  Your purchase of 300 kilowatts of clean, Pennsylvania-generated wind energy increases your PECO bill by just $7.62 per month, but it means that about half of all of the electricity used by your household is totally clean and renewable.  Community Energy, Inc., the company that actually operates the wind farms in the Poconos where the wind energy is produced, will even pay Warminster’s Open Space Fund $20 for each signup (the $20 will go to the Rotary Club or the William Tennent Environmental Club if you sign up through those organizations). And if your situation changes, you can go back to coal-burning and nuclear power at any time just by calling PECO.

Visit www.cleanyourair.org or fill out a sign up form at the WREC or Township Building.  It's an easy and inexpensive way to make a difference!

To track our progress, call Pat Chapman at (215) 443-5414, or check our "thermometer" in the lobby of the Township Building at Henry and Gibson Avenues.  Clean energy is real, it's here, and it's working in Warminster Township.
