NAWC Update #5

In November 2002, the final sections of the NAWC Park Master Site Plan were completed and forwarded to Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) for comment. The month before, Warminster Township submitted a Community Partnerships Grant to the DCNR to begin development of Phase One of the new NAWC park plan. We hope to hear if we will receive this $600,000 matching grant in March.

Phase One of development includes the portion of the project that Erickson Retirement Communities (ERC) has agreed to complete for the Township. This includes the park access drive and adjacent multipurpose trail, four retention ponds with aerating fountains, parking areas, landscaping and lighting. The Township has complemented these items with additional recreation components - NASA Solar System Walk, pavilion and restrooms, interpretive historical perimeter multipurpose trail, forestry and wetland education programs, dog park, wildflower meadow, additional parking and maintenance facility. In addition, we received a 50% matching grant from GameTime to purchase our specially- designed aerospace playground. We hope to begin construction in summer of 2003 so that it is complete in time for our grand opening in October.

In order for us to submit this grant we needed to develop numerous private and public partnerships to assist us with moving this project forward. Below is a list of the different organizations and individuals that assisted with the first portion of the grant. To them, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude:
