NAWC Update #22

AT WARMINSTER COMMUNITY PARK (WCP)
As a reminder, this 243-acre parcel was received as a public benefit transfer (free) from the US Department of the Interior’s Federal Lands to Parks program with a real estate value of over $15 million. To the residents of this community who strive to preserve open space, the value is priceless. We invite everyone to visit the site, take a walk, cross country ski, bike or rollerblade, play on the playground, picnic in the pavilion or relax by the pond.

Safety Town Sells Out!
We are pleased to announce that Warminster Rotary has Sold Out all the building facades for Safety Town. This miniaturized version of Warminster Township will be a place for children to ride bikes & trikes and play in their own make-believe town. The next step in the process will be the Community Build in the spring followed by a grand opening during the summer of 2011. If you wish to volunteer your artistic or building talents for the build, please contact the Park & Rec office to be placed on the email info list. Check out the website: www.warminstertownship.org/safetytown

Warminster Bark Park – Wins Award - Annual Registration Begins!
Warminster Bark Park was recognized a Runner-up for best Dog Park in the Philadelphia area by the TailsInc Readers Choice Awards. Entering our second year, annual registration for the Bark Park began in mid-December, once we received our 2011 Dog licenses from the County. If you are already a Bark Park member, you should have received an update form and will be able to retain your current tags and Paw Pass for the annual fee. Paw Passes for current members will be deactivated if you do not re-register by January 31, 2011. In addition to the form, all members need to provide proof of current rabies vaccination, a dog license and pay the fees. If you wish to become a NEW member, complete the application form, provide copies of the info above and bring it to the P&R office. New members must sign up to attend a “responsible owner” Bark Park class to receive your dog tag and Paw Pass entry card. Forms and info about the Bark Park may be downloaded from our website at www.warminstertownship.org/barkpark.

DONATIONS APPRECIATED!
The Parks & Recreation Department would like to thank the following organizations for recent monetary and in-kind donations: Voicenet, Centennial School District, Rich Grandfield, SJ Paone Development & Delaware Valley Scrap. We’d also like to recognize the following: Dela. Valley Regional Ford V-8 Club; Miles 4 Kyle II; Miracle4Melissa and Abington Memorial Hospital.

Special Events

Special events and activities at WCP are already scheduled for 2011/2012. If you wish to hold a special event at any of the Township parks, especially Warminster Community Park, we recommend that you submit a Special Event Permit (SEP) as soon as possible to reserve your date. SEP’s can be downloaded on the township website: www.warminstertownship.org. Events must be presented and approved by the Park Board at their monthly meetings, so organizations should submit permit requests at least three (3) months in advance of the event.
