TREE MEMORIALS & DONATIONS
The Parks & Recreation Department accepts donations of plants, trees and shrubs in early spring and late fall. This allows plants the needed adjustment period before growing season begins or ends. We also have a Tree Memorial program in the park system. If you would like to donate trees, shrubs or flowers, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at (215) 443-5428 or download the Memorial form by clicking here.
WARMINSTER SPORT ORGANIZATIONS
The fourteen different Warminster Sport Organizations operate independently of the Parks & Recreation Department. We do not oversee their operations, set prices or policies, or act as a mediator during disputes. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact each organization. Please visit the Sports and Civics section for a listing.

Maxwell Jin from the Warminster Chess Club won a trophy for Top 1st grade player at the 2009 Philadelphia Metropolitan Scholastic Chess Championships. It was especially impressive considering that this was his first chess tournament! Also Mike Wies, a club player from previous sessions won the 6th grade award.
Although weather stymied the Skate Committee's & BORDZ efforts to hold the Sk8 Jam on Saturday, August 29 at Munro Park, the event was still a success once the weather cleared and the event moved to BORDZ in Southampton. Special thanks to Marlene and the BORDZ crew for taking over the event and for coordinating the pre-event work with the bands, skate vendors/demos, DJ and program. We'd also like to recognize the skate committee volunteers who assisted with morning set-up and "rain" break-down - the team effort was evident!

Due to State budget cuts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is no longer providing Local Government Grants for our free summer concert series. We are looking for local businesses and organizations to help sponsor community concerts in amounts of $250 (shared) to $2000.
In our second annual Touch A Truck event, we had more trucks for everyone to enjoy. Over 600 kids, big and little, old and young, spent an afternoon checking out the latest vehicles and equipment used by the Township. Thank you to our Public Works Department, Police Department, Park Maintenance Department, Fire Companies, Warminster Volunteer Ambulance Squad, JP Mascaro and the Warminster Municipal Authority for coming out and spending the time to show off their equipment!

Congratulations to David Zieger. His green thumb won him the Heaviest Tomato Contest with a tomato weighing in at 2 lbs, 12.8 oz!
The Township invites all community civic and sport organizations to place their symbol on our community “gateway” sign located at County Line and York Roads. The Sk8 Committee is working on their advertising campaign to raise funds to purchase more equipment at the Skate Spot. Advertising signs are now available to be posted around the top of the perimeter fence at the Skate Spot. Prices are available for 1-3 year contracts. On October 12, the Parks and Recreation Department held their annual Scholarship Golf
Outing to help send kids to camps during the summer. Gilmore and Associates, Inc., the event sponsor, helped us kick things off for another great year. There was not a winner for the “Hole-in-One” Ford Mustang Convertible that was donated by C&C Ford, Chapman Chrysler-Jeep. Rob Gehlert, Ernie Gehlert, Steve Homaday, and Chris Hartman had the best score of the day, shooting a 60. Congratulations to them, our fabulous sponsors, and everyone else who came out to support this event. We raised over $5,000 for the Scholarship Fund.

If you have a talent or skill that you would like to share with others, please contact us. Instructors, especially those working with youth, will be required to have background checks.

The Park, Recreation & Conservation Board
would like to recognize Vic Lasher who retired from the Park Board earlier this year. Vic represented the School District on this advisory board for over 20 years and we greatly appreciate his dedicated service and support. Steve Adams has been appointed as his replacement and is already making valuable contributions to this Board.
On November 20, 2009, Girl Scout Daisy Troop #233, which meets at the WREC, participated in their first community service project. Scouts planted tulip bulbs in the WREC's Butterfly Garden. This project helps them to earn award patches and promotes self- discovery by stressing values, caring, teamwork, and taking action to improve their community and the world. If you are dividing your perennials this spring, why not donate your "discards" to the Parks Department to improve our park landscaping. Just drop off marked plants at the WREC between March 1 and April 30 and we’ll plant them. Or if you wish to help and install them yourself, just call (215) 443-5428 and we’ll provide guidelines for where to plant in the parks. Thank you to the residents who provided iris and lilies in the fall.
