TREE MEMORIALS & DONATIONS
The Parks & Recreation Department accepts donations of plants, trees and shrubs in early spring and late fall. This allows plants the needed adjustment period before growing season begins or ends. We also have a Tree Memorial program in the park system. If you would like to donate trees, shrubs or flowers, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at (215) 443-5428 or download the Memorial form by clicking here.

WARMINSTER SPORT ORGANIZATIONS
The fourteen different Warminster Sport Organizations operate independently of the Parks & Recreation Department. We do not oversee their operations, set prices or policies, or act as a mediator during disputes. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact each organization. Please visit the Sports and Civics section for a listing.

Friends of the Park

PARK BOARD FORMS “FRIENDS OF THE PARK’
In late 2007, the Park Board formed the “Friends of the Park” organization to assist the Department in raising funds for park development and acquisition. This group will be incorporated into a non-profit organization whose goal is to seek funding not currently available to municipalities.  Thanks to John Gonzalez, Michelle Myers, Darlene Baker and Mike Gilman, who spearheaded this effort!

The Park, Recreation & Conservation Board invites residents to nominate honorees for the Edward A. Jefferies Award for community service. Individuals chosen to receive this award have demonstrated outstanding commitment to this community in the provision of leisure services. SEEKING “SEND A KID TO CAMP” FUNDS
P arks & Recreation is always seeking scholarship funds to help those less fortunate enjoy to our summer camp programs. Although proceeds from the Fall Golf Scramble provide the bulk of the funding, we never raise enough to meet the need. If you wish to assist a family by sending a child to camp this summer, please call us: (215) 443-5428.

COMMUNITY INSTRUCTORS NEEDED
In an effort to expand our programming to the community, we are looking for instructors for interesting or fun programs.  These can be geared toward any age and address any area - hobbies, fitness, personal health or finance, cultural or theater arts, etc. – the possibilities are endless!  If you have a talent or skill that you would like to share with others, please contact us.  Instructors, especially those working with youth, will be required have background checks.

SCRAMBLE WAS EGG-CELLENT!
On Thursday, March 20, Warminster Parks and Recreation and Fulton Bank held the annual Easter Egg Scramble.  Even though it was early this year, the event was “EGG-ceptional” with over 480 children, ages 3-10, registered.  In record time, they scrambled to gather up an estimated 10,000 eggs filled with prizes and candy.  Thanks to Fulton Bank, the members of the Ben Wilson Senior Center (our egg stuffers) and the countless numbers of volunteers, this event was “EGGS-traordinary”!

WAL-MART DONATIONS RECEIVED
Throughout the year, Warminster Wal-Mart has continued to donate supplies – cards, seasonal decorations, snow shovels and salt - to Parks & Recreation.  These items are used in programs and activities sponsored by Department and we greatly appreciate Wal-Mart’s generosity.

DOG PARK DONATIONS CONTINUE TO GROW
Parks & Recreation received a donation of $126 from the Petco Foundation Tree of Hope towards the dog park construction.  This donation resulted from the Warminster PETCO “Pictures with Santa” Tree of Hope fundraiser that was held in December.  Other generous donations to the proposed dog park were made in memory of James Hill, by the Howard McElroy Family and Tails of the Tundra Husky Rescue.  We hope to begin construction in Fall of 2008. Thank you everyone!

ROTARY RAISES SKATE SPOT DOLLARS
On March 15, Warminster Rotary held a Bowling Fundraiser at Thunderbird Lanes to raise money to purchase additional equipment for the Warminster Skate Spot. Combined with donations already received by the Skate Committee, the $4,000 Rotary raised will be matched by Parks Department capital fund dollars to purchase multiple pieces of equipment.  The Skate Spot, which opened on September 15, 2007, was dedicated in memory of Kyle Quinn.  Thanks Rotary!!

The Department would like to thank the following organizations for their recent donations:  Warminster Warriors Baseball and Softball, Bux-Mont Men’s Baseball League and Warminster Soccer. COMMUNITY GARDENS
Help the Parks & Recreation Department spruce up the entryways to our park system with landscaping.  If you live near a park and have a few hours a week to help keep our entryways looking inviting, or to assist with planting and design, please call the Parks office.  We will purchase the planting materials, but need help installing landscaping and perennials to improve the look of all our parks. Call the Parks & Recreation office for more info: (215) 443-5428.
