After working as the “front desk lady” for the Parks Department for almost 20 years and a great ambassador for the department, Emilie Sloan has decided to retire to spend more time with her family and enjoy watching afternoon Phillies games. We greatly appreciate her dedication and commitment to this community and know many residents will miss her. Good luck Emilie! Go Phillies!
Parks & Recreation is seeking scholarship funds to help those less fortunate to enjoy our summer camp programs. Although proceeds from the Fall Golf Scramble provide the bulk of the funding, we never raise enough to meet the need. If you wish to assist a family by sending a child to camp this summer, please call us at (215)443-5428.
THANK YOU! The Parks & Recreation Department would like to extend special thanks to those groups, businesses, and individuals who have contributed to our special events and classes, and also to those who have donated their time, muscle, energy, or materials and supplies. Thank you everyone! We could not have done it without YOU!

TREE MEMORIALS & DONATIONS
The Parks & Recreation Department accepts donations of plants, trees and shrubs in early spring and late fall. This allows plants the needed adjustment period before growing season begins or ends. We also have a Tree Memorial program in the park system. If you would like to donate trees, shrubs or flowers, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at (215) 443-5428 or download the Memorial form by clicking here.
WARMINSTER SPORT ORGANIZATIONS
The fourteen different Warminster Sport Organizations operate independently of the Parks & Recreation Department. We do not oversee their operations, set prices or policies, or act as a mediator during disputes. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact each organization. Please visit the Sports and Civics section for a listing.
The Parks and Recreation Department is now open 24/7 for online registration. Register for most programs and see what’s new from the comfort of your home! Camp & Swimming registration not available online. Check out the web site for details at www.warminstertownship.org/recreation

The Parks & Recreation Department would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for recent donations and assistance: Centennial School District, Voicenet, Nancy’s Farm, Delaware Valley Scrap, Joe Mattero Recycling and Rich Grandfield Tree Service.
The Township is looking for additional Eagle Scout candidates, Gold Star contenders, or Scout Troops who are interested in community service hours to assist with a storm water protection project. In accordance with DEP regulations, all of the storm water drains in the municipality need to be marked or stenciled with “no dumping”. Any troop or scout interested in this project for community service should contact the Parks & Recreation Department at (215)443-5428 as soon as possible.
In an effort to expand our programming to the community, we are looking for instructors to teach interesting or fun programs. These can be geared toward any age and address any area - hobbies, fitness, personal health, or finance, cultural or theater arts, etc. – the possibilities are endless! If you have a talent or skill that you would like to share with others, please contact us. Instructors, especially those working with youth, will be required to have background checks.
Just a reminder to all Bark Park members… registration for 2012 membership will begin in December. If you are already registered, you need to update your paperwork, dog licenses and rabies info after January 1, 2012. For those new to the park, completion of an application, current dog licenses and rabies certificate and attendance at a Bark Park workshop are required. Applicants will receive electronic key cards for annual fees (Jan.-Dec.) of $25/Warminster resident household/year ($35/NR). For more information on registration, regulations and class dates check out the website @ www.warminstertownship.org/barkpark.
We are always on the lookout for new classes and programs to offer our residents. If you have an idea for a trip or program, and/or wish to become an instructor, please don’t hesitate to call us @ (215) 443-5428.
Due to recent fundraising efforts, and special donations from the Quinn Family of the proceeds of the Kyle Quinn Golf Outing in October to Friends of Warminster Parks, the Skate Spot will receive several new large pieces of equipment this winter. A community build is scheduled for January 21 & 22, weather permitting, so that we may continue to improve this facility for skaters (board and inline) and bikers. Check it out on the website: www.warminstertownship.org/skatespot.
The Skate Committee continues the advertising campaign to raise funds to purchase more equipment at the Skate Spot and has teamed up with the Friends of Warminster Parks to increase its sponsorship opportunities so that the Skate Spot at Munro Park may be expanded with new equipment. Join the organizations, businesses and families that have already donated to this worthy cause. If you would like more information about this park or the fund raising efforts, please call (215) 443-5428 or check out the website: www.warminstertownship.org/skatespot.
Thanks to the donated software stylings of a local business, Ward Development Group, the Township is about to launch a new tree donation website. Anyone who is interested in donating a tree to the township parks, can now do so on-line – it’s easy! Trees enhance our landscapes, provide shelter and habitat, improve the environment and increase property values. Donate a tree today in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion.
On October 23rd, Society of Young Magicians “Magic on Bridge Street” performed their annual Halloween Magic Show at the WREC. This year over 100 people enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment from magicians of all ages. It was a perfect way to “test” costumes for trick or treating. Thank you “Magic on Bridge Street”!
Due to State budget cuts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is no longer providing Local Government Grants for our free summer concert series. We are looking for local businesses and organizations to help sponsor community concerts in amounts of $250 (shared) to $2000.
Due to that wacky snow storm on October 29, two special events had to be cancelled in 2011. Touch a Truck will be held again next fall at WCP and the Skate Jam will be rescheduled for the spring at the Skate Spot in Munro. We thank all of the sponsors and municipal services that were scheduled to appear in the parks that day.
If you are dividing your perennials this spring, why not donate your "discards" to the Parks Department to improve our park landscaping. Just drop off marked plants at the WREC between March 1 and April 30 and we’ll plant them. Or if you wish to help and install them yourself, just call (215) 443-5428 and we’ll provide guidelines for where to plant in the parks. Thank you to the residents who provided sedum, red canna and daffodil bulbs in the fall.
The Park, Recreation & Conservation Board invites residents to nominate honorees for the Edward A. Jefferies Award for community service. For more information, contact the Parks & Recreation office at (215) 443-5428. or check out our website - www.warminstertownship.org.
The process of replacing all Township Park signs has begun with recent donations from the Friends of Warminster Parks. All of the new signs are made from durable recyclable materials and will have a consistent design. New signs can be found at the entrance to Warminster Community Park on Johnsville Blvd. and along Street Road at Szymanek Park. A new sign will also be installed at Munro in the spring. To help raise money for this project, the Friends invite you to attend the St. Patty’s Casino Night on March 17th. For info: friendsofwarminsterparks.org. Thank you "Friends" for improving the park system for the community!
