FITNESS CLASS INFO - Fitness class participants register for each session. If you miss a class you are welcome to make it up at another class during the same session. "Make ups" may not be carried into later sessions. No credits or refunds are issued for missed classes unless cancelled by the Parks & Recreation Department. In order to optimize the group exercise schedule, the Department reserves the right to cancel classes for which there is not enough participation. Class attendance will be continuously monitored and classes canceled for those with minimal attendance. Take Part Of The Summer Off! Register early for both summer sessions of your favorite fitness classes (Mix & Match, Body Sculpting & Step Blast only), and take half off the cost of Session 2! If you normally pay $48 for an 8-week session, get 16 weeks of our great workouts for just $72! In order to participate, you must register and pay for both sessions of the same program by May 30. No refunds.
News & Notes:
Babysitting: Babysitting is available for children, ages 6 months to 7 years, for $1/child/class for the weekday morning classes only. All children under age 8 must go to the babysitting room. Babysitting room is now air-conditioned!
The WREC gym does not have air conditioning – Don’t forget your water bottle!
Certified Fitness Instructors are needed as substitutes and to expand our Fitness programs. If you are interested, contact Parks & Recreation at (215) 443-5428.
Participants should bring a towel or mat for all Sculpting, Pilates, Yoga, Combo, Aerobics, & Interval classes. Limited number of mats available.
“Hot Mama” Boot Camp
Mon: 9:30-10:30 AM (Session 1 only)
While your kids are playing in our air-conditioned babysitting room, you’ll be sweatin’ it out in the gym. Hand weights, steps and floor work will all be included to whip those arms, hips, butt and abs into shape!
Cardio Kick Boxing Class
Mon: 5:30-6:30 PM
This class provides an all-body workout, including low to moderate impact cardio exercises. Each class is a mixture of kick-boxing, aerobics, calisthenics, a bit of weight training and a good measure of fun. Bring a water bottle! Class is well suited for anyone with moderate to intermediate fitness levels - lower impact alternatives can be offered for most exercises.
Step & Sculpt Interval Challenge
Wed/Fri: 9:30-10:30 AM
Step combinations alternated with muscle building segments will keep your heart rate elevated while working all the major muscle groups and getting a cardio workout - all in an hour. We end with an ab challenge! All levels are welcome.
Body Blast & Flex
– Now with more weight training!
Tue/Thu: 10:00-11:00 AM
Fitness doesn't stop at aerobic exercise! Working with weights, we’ll tone, flex, and stretch the muscles that are pushed so hard when we work out. This class uses a variety of techniques, which will round out anyone’s fitness regimen.
Aerobics
Tue/Thu: 7:30-8:30 PM
A fun, safe and engaging dance-exercise workout that can be adapted to your own fitness level. You won't feel pushed beyond your limits, yet you'll still feel challenged! Low and high impact variations are continuously demonstrated. A toning session for your arms, abs, hips and legs and a cool down stretch completes the pleasant hour you'll spend with us. Don't miss it!

STEP BLAST

A packed half-hour of step morning OR evening. Designed for those who are familiar with step, this class consists of intermediate levels of skill and intensity. Stay for Body Blast or Body Sculpting to complete your workout.
BODY SCULPTING
Tue/Thu: 6:30-7:15 PM
Fees: $30/R $37/NR
A muscle toning and strengthening class for the entire body. All major muscles will be targeted. It's a perfect complement to your aerobic or walking program. Min. class size: 8

PILATES
Mat Pilates – 6wk summer session!

Fees: $50/R $58/NR (limited to 12 students/class)
This class is a mind and body workout that focuses on the powerhouse of the body (the abdominals, lower back and buttocks)! Pilates combines Calisthenics, Yoga and Tai Chi, while working on centering, alignment, strength, flexibility, stability and stamina. Certified Pilates instructor: Carey Lever. If you have your own mat, please bring it!
VIVA Mat Pilates
Date: Mon, May 19-Jul. 28 (No class on 5/26)
Time: 7:30–8:30 PM
Fees: $115 for all students. (A specialized Pilates band and ball will be given out at the first class to new students. No refunds after the first class has met.)
Lose inches off your waist, stomach and hips; strengthen all your muscles, even ones you never know about, relieve wrist, neck and shoulder pain and melt away stress with our classes. Learn to strengthen and align the muscles that support your back as well as stretch your muscles to prevent back pain. We customize the movements to fit each student’s body. Perfect for men/women, ages 12 and up and all fitness levels, no prior training needed. Wear comfortable exercise attire. Bring a thick exercise mat and large towel.

If you’ve never taken a yoga class before, this might be just right for you! Try our new beginners’ yoga to get in on the “ground floor”. This class will teach you the basics of breathing and stretching to help you become more fit. Bring a mat, if you have one. Instructor: Dr. Sheela Fadra
