Crime Reports

Please check out the our press section for up to date crime reports. This interactive report helps you to find out what is doing on in your neighborhood.

Did You Know . . .

that most thefts from personal vehicles occur to unlocked vehicles? Locking your car doors and rolling up your windows when you are not in the car can help tremendously in preventing the theft of your property inside or the vehicle itself.

If you see suspicious activity or a possible crime in progress, do not wait to call Police. Get to an area of safety and call police immediately. Any information you can provide will greatly help the responding Officers. Don't leave your doors or windows unlocked when not at home. Most thieves or burglars are looking for an easy target. Locking your doors and windows will help in deterring many thieves. Also alarm systems are great so if you have one don't forget to set it every time you leave.

Child Passenger Safety Seats

The Warminster Township Police Department would like to remind our residents of the importance of using Child Passenger Safety Seats for their children. This covers children of all ages – birth through the teenage years. It is imperative that all passengers buckle up for safety, and it is the law. If you would like to make an appointment for your Child Safety Seat inspection, become educated of the nuances of your seat, or you have some questions about your older children in the vehicle, please call (215) 443-5000 and ask to speak to our certified CPS Technician Cpl. Zak Jackson.

'Steer Clear' Law

‘STEER CLEAR’ LAW WILL ENHANCE ROADSIDE SAFETY
Motorists Now Required to Move Over or Slow Down for Roadside Incidents

HARRISBURG — A state law that took effect this month requires Pennsylvania motorists to move over or slow down when they encounter an emergency scene, traffic stop or disabled vehicle, state Transportation Secretary Allen D. Biehler, P.E. said today.

“The new ‘Steer Clear’ law simply takes what should be common sense and makes it a requirement for safe driving in Pennsylvania,” said Biehler. “Police officers, emergency crews and those working to assist stranded motorists must be given a wider margin for safety – and we are counting on all drivers to help us achieve this goal.”

The law requires motorists to move to a lane that is not adjacent to the scene of an emergency response, police stop or a tow truck picking up an abandoned vehicle. If drivers cannot move over because of traffic or other conditions, they must reduce their speed.

The law applies any time an emergency vehicle has its lights flashing and where road crews or emergency personnel have lighted flares, posted signs or tried to warn motorists. Failure to move over or slow down can result in a summary offense that carries a fine of up to $250. In addition, fines will be doubled for traffic violations occurring in these areas. If that violation leads to a worker being injured, a 90-day license suspension could result.

In cases where law enforcement may not be present, the law allows road workers and emergency responders to report violations by motorists. Law enforcement can issue citations based on these reports.
